Dear Reader, A theme these days which raises extremely many questions is AI (Artificial Intelligence). The speed of the technological development is unprecedented. Apart from the technical aspects, it comes with several other challenges including ethical, social and legal. Some key questions are what impacts can be foreseen, how can these be assessed, and how to measure performance, reliability, safety, security and privacy to gain public trust. To ensure accountability and appropriate governance, formal frameworks and rules are necessary. The second article below includes a review of the present status of certain relevant regulations and rules.
More products subject to Energy Efficiency Labeling in China
Early this year, China’s National Development and Reform Commission (NDRC) released a Notice No.45-2025, the "Catalogue of Products Subject to Energy Efficiency Labeling in the People's Republic of China (17th Batch)" and its Related Implementation Rules.
Since the first release of China’s mandatory Energy Labeling program in 2005 for Air Conditioners and Refrigerators, the list of products which requires energy labeling has kept growing. To date, the list covers around 30 types of products within 5 categories. ITE equipment such as Flat screen TVs, Monitors, Printers, Projectors, Portable computers/laptops, are now in the scope.

Chile with new compliance system for Short-Range Devices
The Chilean Telecommunications Authority, the Subsecretaría de Telecomunicaciones (SUBTEL) has issued a Resolution Exenta N° 737/2025 which introduces one of the most significant regulatory transformations in Latin America for wireless and short-range devices (SRD). By this new framework the traditional paper-based type approvals for most SRD equipment are replaced by a mandatory digital compliance and QR-based traceability system. The objective of the change is to modernize the approval process and streamline market access for such products.
New regulations in Niger for approval of communication equipment
The Nigerien Communications Regulatory Authority (ARCEP) has issued a Decision with the Number 000011/ARCEP/
CNRCEP/25. It entails a new regulation being effective from 8 Oct. this year which impacts the type of approval process for terminal and radio equipment, concerning mainly the approval procedures and the issuance of installer approvals.
Dell Technologies recently arranged a successful summit at the GIS Taipei Tech Convention Centre in Taiwan where brought together its global compliance leadership and key Original Design Manufacturer (ODM) partners to discuss upcoming regulatory requirements for the future development of their servers and other IT products. Dell opened the summit by reaffirming the need for proactive compliance planning, noting that emerging global standards, especially concerning cybersecurity, will increasingly impact time-to-market and supply chain coordination.
