While global news about business and technological advancements keep focusing on the situation and developments in Europe, America and Asia, what goes on in the enormous and colorful continent Africa, is far less heard of. According to international finance experts, Africa will be home to most of the world’s fastest-growing economies in 2025 and have 3/4 of the world’s top 20 pace setters. One effect of the advancements is the speeding up of regional cooperation on trade and politics as mentioned in the first article below. Tightened requirements for telecom equipment in Angola
As in many other counties in Africa, approval of telecom/ communication equipment is mandatory in Angola. As a result of recent incidents of counterfeit approval certificates found in their market, the Angolan National Regulatory Institute for Communications, INACOM (Instituto Angolano das Comunicações) has taken various actions to reinforce the security of its documentation and approval processes.
The significance of energy efficiency and saving has become self-evident in our time, for global climate reasons and national investments as well as cost savings for individual households and businesses. Countries around the world have implemented measures such as energy labelling of electrical household appliances and home electronics, sometimes mandatory like in Egypt. The regulated products shall comply with Egypt standards and bear the energy efficiency label before entering the market.
Africa Regulatory Updates - Tunisia has approved WiFi 6E for faster, next-generation wireless connectivity. - Nigeria faces notable delays in type approvals due to tariff changes and stricter sample rules. - Madagascar now requires product samples and prepayment, affecting approval timelines. - Malawi is issuing 6-month provisional type approvals based on compliance with technical standards.
First Korean testing lab for Indonesian telecom certification
To streamline cross-border certification of telecom equipment, Indonesia and South Korea have now officially implemented a Mutual Recognition Agreement (MRA) for testing reports. Thereby, telecom products tested in designated South Korean laboratories can be certified in Indonesia without additional testing, and vice versa for certification in Korea.
