Dear Reader, Ever since the dawn of civilization, water and fire have been crucial factors in the evolution, and water is a fundamental necessity for all known life on Earth. Amongst the many human needs associated with water are for vegetation, drinking, and sanitation, as well as for hydroelectric power plants. In recent years, several regions across the globe have experienced increasing water scarcity, a trend researchers attribute to climate change. Some aspects of this are discussed in the third article below.
Updated telecom regulations published in South Africa
The Independent Communications Authority of South Africa (ICASA) has published its final regulations on dynamic spectrum access and opportunistic spectrum management in the 3800-4200 MHz and 5925-6425 MHz bands. This reform aims to promote broadband access, encourage innovation, improve spectrum sharing, and facilitate the entry of new market players.
Foreign-produced consumer routers restricted in USA
TheFCCPublic Safety and Homeland Security Bureauin USA has added all consumer-grade routers produced in foreign countries to theCovered List, which means that it is deemed an unacceptable security risk. According to the FCC, foreign-made internet routers were determined to be involved in recent cyberattacks that targeted vital infrastructure, includingthe Volt, Flax, and Salt Typhoon incidents.(Further information on the risks is contained in the FCC Public Notice, DA-26-278A1).
Water is often called the source of life, as every living organism depends on it for survival, from the smallest microorganisms to the largest ecosystems. Beyond sustaining life, water also powers much of the world’s economy and energy systems, making it one of humanity’s most valuable, and increasingly vulnerable, resources. As the global population continues to grow, and climate change alters rainfall patterns and increases the frequency of droughts and floods, securing sustainable water resources has become one of the defining challenges of this century.
For years, artificial intelligence and cybersecurity evolved as largely separate disciplines. Cybersecurity professionals focused on protecting systems, networks, and data, while AI practitioners concentrated on improving prediction accuracy, automation, and decision-making capabilities; That separation no longer exists. Today, AI is simultaneously becoming a target of cyberattacks and a powerful capability for cyber defense.
