Amongst the topics in the last issue of this newsletter was our ever-increasing dependency on electricity and the consequent need for certain scarce material for the making of electrical and electronic products. In this context, is not least the growing need for batteries in all different sizes, shapes and forms a major element, as pointed out in the second article below.
Compulsory Chinese certification of power supply equipment for electrical vehicles
The Chinese State Administration for Market Regulation (SAMR) did last
December announce“Implementation of Compulsory Product Certification Management for Electric Vehicle (EV) Power Supply Equipment”.
It entails that already from 1 March this year, designated certification bodies could begin to accept CCC certification application for such equipment.
The global demand for batteries is driven largely by the objective to reduce climate change through electrification of mobility and the broader energy transition. Experts have projected that the entire lithium-ion battery chain, from mining through recycling, may grow by over 30 % annually.
Batteries for mobility applications, such as electric vehicles (EVs), have been expected to account for the vast bulk of demand in 2030, due to regulatory shifts toward sustainability
Updated regulation for telecom equipment in Morocco
Morocco, which is officially named The Kingdom of Morocco, is at the Northwest corner of Africa. The population is presently about 38 mill, with Rabat as the capital, while the largest city is Casablanca.
Morocco’s National Agency for Telecommunications Regulation (ANRT) recently published a Decision denotedDG No. 16/24, which updates the type approval- and labeling requirements for telecom terminal equipment and radioelectric devices sold and used in Morocco.
Changes in Thailand’s approval requirements for telecom equipment
The regulatory body for telecommunication in Thailand is the National Broadcasting & Telecommunications Commission (NBTC). Approval/certification by NBTC is mandatory for any telecommunication product imported, sold, or used within the Thai market.
Four draft NBCT announcements concerning changes to the regulations for their Class B Type Approval of communication equipment have been out on public hearing.
On 13 March Nemko Korea hosted a jointcustomer seminar about artificial intelligence (AI) and cybersecurity, in collaboration with the Korean Standards Association (KSA).
