The editor is just back from a mission in China as described in the last article below. The first visit was already in 1989 and has been followed by many visits, which have seen an unprecedented growth and developments of industry, infrastructure etc. As described in the third article below, also Nemko’s CEO has recently visited China and seen examples of fantastic achievements. It is now 75 years since the People’s Republic of China was established. As a member of the Norwegian Chinese Chambre of Commerce (NCCC) Nemko was invited by the Chinese embassy to be represented on 30 Sept to celebrate this jubilee, which also coincided with 70 years of China-Norway diplomatic relations.
New Canadian standard for Wireless Power Transfer devices
The Canadian authorityISEDhas published a long awaited Issue 3 of the Radio Standards Specification RSS-216. This updated standard regulates Wireless Power Transfer (WPT) devices and replaces the Issue 2 from January 2016 (amended in September 2020).
Jordan, which is officially named the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan, is located in western Asia and being bordered by Syria, Iraq, Saudi Arabia, Israel and the Palestinian West Bank. The population is presently nearly 12 million, with Amman as the country's capital and the largest city.
The Jordanian Telecom Regulatory Commission (TRC) has published a new type approval regulation for telecom devices, which was made effective from 15 September.
Syria, which isofficially named the Syrian Arab Republic, is also a country in western Asia. It has a coastline to the Mediterranean Sea and is bordering Turkey, Iraq, Jordan, Israel and Lebanon. The country does currently have a population of about 24 mill with Damascus as the capital and largest city.
The Syrian Telecommunications Regulatory Authority (SyTPRA) has now introduced a new regulation governing the use of WiFi 6E technology. This aims to improve wireless connectivity by opening additional frequency bands and setting clear technical parameters for WiFi 6E usage in both public and private sectors.
The Chinese-owned company Lenovo is today a multinational technology company specializing in the design, manufacturing, and marketing of consumer electronics, personal computers, software, business solutions, and related services. Their products include desktop computers, laptops, tablet computers, smartphones, workstations, servers, super-computers, data storage devices, IT management software and smart TVs.
- Korea's first international testing laboratory recognized for cyber security
According to a news article in ‘ETNEWS’ (the daily newspaper for information technology in South Korea), the first international laboratory in Korea for cyber security testing of consumer products within the international IECEE/CB scheme, is the laboratory of Nemko Korea at Yongin, Gyeonggi-do outside Seoul.
- Entered a unique industry-academic cooperation
On 4 September, Nemko Korea signed an industry-academic cooperation agreement with Pyeongchon High School of Science & Technology. On this occasion, together with the high school officials, about 30 of their students visited and participated in a program that included a tour of the various laboratories.
The annual IECEE peer assessor course successfully completed
The annual training course for IECEE peer assessors, was this year for Asia. It took place during the last week of September at the conference center of Pullman Hotel South in Beijing, hosted by TÜV Rheinland China. Asia is where there are most IECEE assessors and more than 200 took part in this course.
