The year 2024 has come to an end. As usual, for many of us, it has been a good year, while for many others around the world, it has surely not been so. And in the world history, nor will this year be marked as a good one, due to the ongoing terrible wars in several places and increasing geopolitical uncertainty. We must hope and believe that 2025 will prove better.
In any case, I take the opportunity to thank you for your interest in this monthly publication from Nemko, and now hoping that you are having a nice holiday season and a good start of the Roman New Year 😊

A new draft Regulation has published by the European Commission concerning ecodesign requirements for “the placing on the market or putting into service” of external power supplies (EPS), battery chargers for portable batteries of general use, wirelesschargers, wireless charging pads and USBType-C cables.
In August 2024,Argentina’s Ministry of Economyissued a Resolution 237/2024 which introduces a comprehensive update to the country’s Conformity Evaluation Framework. The given purpose is simplification and streamlining of the certification processes, while ensuring product safety and compliance with national standards by enhanced market surveillance. The resolution will be implemented from 28 March 2025 by Argentina’s National Directorate of Technical Regulations (DNRT).
The China Quality Certification Centre (CQC) has recently issued two Notifications about new versions of certification rules and of standards for household- and similar electrical appliances. The products concerned include external power adapters, chargers and built-in switching power supplies and also battery chargers and household appliances such as dishwashers and tumble driers.
Expands recognition for North America and internationally
Nemko Taiwan has been officially recognised by the US authorityOSHAas a site under Nemko’s NRTLscope for North American certification. With this site recognition came an expansion for Nemko whereby testing and certification to the US safety standard for batteries, UL 2054 is now recognized under the OSHA/NRTL program, as can be seenhere.
Featuring at important cyber security exhibition and congress
The annual “it-sa Home of IT Security Exhibition & Congress” took recently place in Nuremberg, Germany. It demonstrated an impressive growth this year with 897 exhibitors being a remarkable 33% increase compared to 2023, and more than 25,830 visitors from 65 countries were registered.
